10/14/20 – COVID-19 Press Release

LCSD#2 would like to provide a clarification on the recent Health Department masking requirement changes.  While participating in exerting activities, we can continue to allow students to remove their masks.  This includes athletics, PE and recess where social distancing can be maintained.

 

10/10/20 - COVID 19 Press Release

Laramie County School District #2 was notified today that a student within the Burns Jr/Sr High School community has tested positive for COVID-19.  The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department, in partnership with Burns Jr/Sr High School, has begun contact tracing protocols.  Some students that attend Burns Jr/Sr High School have been quarantined.  Those quarantined have potentially been in contact with the COVID-19 positive individual and meet the definition of a close contact. During the quarantine period, quarantined individuals must remain at their residence and only leave for medical care. Additionally, no one outside the household should enter the residence. Parents are encouraged to monitor students for signs and symptoms of COVID -19.   


10/9/20 - COVID-19 Press Release

In discussions with the Laramie County Health Department, individuals who are quarantined are recommended (but not required) to be tested at day 5 and day 11 after exposure to a positive individual if asymptomatic, or immediately if symptomatic.   


10/8/20 – COVID-19 Press Release

Laramie County School District 2 was notified today that a staff member within the Pine Bluffs Elementary School community has tested positive for COVID-19.  The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department, in partnership with Pine Bluffs Elementary School, has begun contact tracing protocols. All students in grades 4th, 5th and 6th are being quarantined/isolated and will remain home during the duration of their orders, which is currently through October 19th.

In discussions with the County Health Department and the Pine Bluffs Health Clinic, the only individuals who should be tested are those who are symptomatic.

10/7/20 - COVID-19 Press Release

Laramie County School District 2 has been notified that a staff member within the Carpenter Elementary School community has tested positive for COVID-19. “The health and safety of our students, staff and community are priorities at Laramie County School District 2. Unfortunately, due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, exposure can still happen,” stated Jon Abrams, LCSD2 Superintendent.
 

The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department, in partnership with Carpenter Elementary School, have begun contact tracing protocols. Contact tracing identified 11 students and two staff members who have been quarantined/isolated and will remain home during the duration of their orders.
 

Parents are encouraged to watch students for possible symptoms such as sore throats, loss of taste or smell, fever, cough and body aches and to visit with their health care provider or get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible if symptoms are present. Free COVID-19 testing is available through the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department.
